One such benefit is that of ensuring that your pet insurance covers the costs of your pet’s stay in a cattery or kennel should you fall ill and are unexpectedly unable to care for your animals for a period of time.

This benefit means that you do not have the worry of what to do with your pets when you are unable to be with them. Medipet covers R50 per day for either kennels, catteries or pet sitters. Medipet will cover the cost of boarding fees for up the maximum amount of R1000 per annum.

The cost of your pet’s boarding will only be paid to a licensed kennel or cattery and in the case of your animals being taken care of by a pet sitter the pet sitter themselves must not be living with you. With your animals in the care of responsible animal carers you can know that your pets will be safe and well looked after until you are back to health and are able to take of them again yourself.
